Animation is hard...
I wanted to get back into animation, after seeing all the amazing work people have made online. I was reminded of the potential of animation as a medium, with the all cinematic shots, audio and all that. I really want to give it another shot.I've done animation before, mainly when I was doing some collage courses. So, it wouldn't be that difficult, right?
I planned on animating some characters from OMORI. Like Sunny, Mari, and Basil.
I did sort of enjoy the process, but overall it was incredibly overwhelming. With all the frames, terminology, and learning how to do timing properly, it felt like a chore.
Yes, I am a pea-brain.
I mean, I wasn't obliged to do it. I'm an illustratior, not an animator. But maybe I was doing something wrong. Up until this point, I haven't practiced animation for several months (possibly a year.) I thought I would quickly pick up from I left off. That was mostly true, except for the fact that I was at a lower skill level than I remember.
I could explain all the little details of what didn't work, but that would be increably lengthy and inane. To put it simply, I tried to run before I can walk. For now, I need to relearn the basics. You know, the bouncing ball, the pendulum, the flour sack. The classics. It may not be that exciting, but they are important to learn. I should have remembered that but oh well. I learnt the hard way.
I do plan on finishing these short animations, but they'll take a long time. Espically since I'm starting back in Uni this month.
Ehh. I'll find time to do it.
